It is not necessary for the practitioner to be present for the full duration of the treatment, however monitoring during the treatment is encouraged. In some cases you may feel worse after the treatment. This is nothing to be alarmed about – it is a good sign! It indicates that your body is responding quickly and a change is occurring.

Expect to spend a period of time sitting or laying quietly while the Impulse 4000 does its work. Some people experience a slight "tingling" while undertaking treatment, though this is never painful or uncomfortable.

This is one of the greatest benefits of PEM therapy: there are no side effects. Sometimes you might feel some tingling due to improved circulation but this is no contraindication. Most scientific clinical studies clearly show that in order to obtain clinical relevant results the minimum pulsing field strength must be at least 3-5 milli Tesla (30 to 50 Gauss). In order to generate piezoelectricity inside bone and cells the field strength must exceed 10 milli Tesla (100 gauss). There are different variations of large and expensive coil systems mounted on arms or beds, but none of these systems is able to generate energies higher than 100 gauss.
